who won the war?
Norman Davies wrote an interesting piece for last week's Sunday Times on just who did win WW2 (link). In addition to it being a bit of an eye-opener for those who were not sceptical already in any case, there are some useful connects with our recent discussion re motivation etc. I particularly liked Davies' opening well-known Churchill quote: 'History will be kind to me, because I intend to write it'. Isnt this what any good up-and-coming state/org/institution/army/politician/celebrity/individual does anyway? Write its own history? Connect also to the question of the intent and means of history's stakeholders to make meaningful record of their circumstances.
